Cylas, surfaced from his drunken stupor, after yet another fruitless and humiliating night of drinking and failure to preform with his newest whore. At first, he'd blamed the drink, and then his man servant 'Knavely' who's actual name the King had long since forgotten, but in the end, he'd ended up blaming himself. So, he'd gotten up to a much different world than he'd previously ducked out of some four years earlier. Things, had changed. Even dear Eave, now married and pregnant with her first child that wasn't his. Not to mention, she was running his country. An old flame, a new kind of ignition. Cylas, decided to return to the land of the living, or at least, the lan of the sober.
Aliamine, has made her beef with her father known and he might well have deserved every bit of her barbed tongue. Especially, since the first thing he did, upon failing to recognize his own offspring, was to offer his affections in the way of the dirty old man that he is, has, and will continue to be until he's dead and buried. Relations, were and are not, good.
Now the King has met his knuckle-dragging-neandrethal-son-in-law, and found him to be a good man. Soon to be a good King, even if he sees more of himself in the man than he'd ever like to admit, even to himself. Especially, to himself.
Another meeting with his daughter. Yes, the legitimate one, you twats. Things went slightly better. Still not good, but better. Cylas Enjoyed the time he spent with his 'little red bird'.
Cylas is going to be a Grandfather! William, Aliamine and Mereavus, were all there to announce the news. A bit of a fight with Aliamine, but they did make some headway on repairing their relationship. Unfortunately, he ended up stepping on Eave's toes. Something he really didn't mean to do, but these things happen. Life sucks, and oddly, seems to be repairing itself. The King, got profoundly drunk and went to bed on this one.
Had a night time visitor, someone who hasn't entered his chambers after a certain hour for almost two decades. No nasty was to be had, but honestly, he still loves her. A great deal. The pair had the opportunity to fall asleep as they had so many years ago. Cylas, felt much more like himself after this. They may never again be lovers, but an understanding, has been made. The heart wants what the heart wants and it's best not to alk about it, even to eachother.
Another run-in with Aliamine. More bridges repaired. A riding trip, was tentatively planned.
Riding trip was not to be had. Cylas backed out of it on account of his hangover and unwillingness to leave his chambers. Drunk again.
Rethought the riding trip, and decided to go pick out a horse. As it turns out, there wasn't much there. Except a bizarre young woman named 'Novel'. He worried about her, her standoffishness, her limp and the way she seemed to almost 'hide' from him. The pair spoke for some time and determined that Novel's new horse, is perhaps a distant relative of a horse that the King gave someone very special to him. An old lover. (Eave. Ahem.) The horse's name was 'Firefly' and has been dead for many years, if he's correct. The pair went their separate ways, but the King, is on the look-out for the poor girl.
ESCAPED the madness, and went to the tavern. Cylas met a new friend not an hour into his foray. A man named Cornelius, who managed to cheer him right up. Someone to share brandy and talk of things that don't involve touchy subjects with. A pleb, yes, but a good man who can hold his liquor. Cylas, was impressed. He forgot how he got home, but that's old news. He missed his daughter's wedding in the same manner.
After a long day of listening to the drone of taxes and other such things and pieces of paper he's to sign. The King snuck out again in hopes of running into his new friend. Sure enough the man appeared! They ended up having a fine old time, with Morgance, bar maid and kingdom's best cook. A good time was had by all.. Cylas, has decided to purchase a horse to go riding with his Daughter, and perhaps hunting with is new friend. He was fairly certain he remembered Knavely coming to fetch him at some point, though he's not sure. Morgance, has him rather worried about her. Of course, drinking helped with that.
